McHenry Hohnen Rolling Stone 2020

This is the pinnacle of McHenry Hohnen’s thoroughbred stable. It’s a blend of around 57% cabernet, 36% malbec, and the remainder petit verdot. This combination has worked extremely well over the years. The 2020 vintage offered great fruit concentration and power, and this wine exemplifies that, though with the regional character of southern Margaret River, it achieves balance and refinement. On the nose, there’s deep intensity of blackcurrant, plum, blackberry, and subtle minerality. On the palate, the dark fruit concentration is immediately evident. There’s plenty of oak to support the structure, making this a wine built for long-term cellaring. Yet, it’s so well balanced and poised that you could easily enjoy it now.
