Great in size and variety as well as in quality, this region covers five official sub-regions based around the towns of Denmark, Albany, Mount Barker, Porongurup, and Frankland. Each sub-region has its own topography and quirks, yet all of them share a cool mean January temperature - the climates range from maritime in coastal Denmark and Albany, to continental in Mount Barker, Porongurup, and Frankland. All produce fabulous wines with the standout varieties across the region being riesling, pinot noir, and shiraz.
