Rockcliffe Nautica chardonnay 2019

A six-year-old wine that's starting to show some quite brilliant early development characters, but it still has a long way to go. On the nose, there's a savoury, slightly gunflint smoky character, which sits well within the more obvious stone fruit, ripe melon, and brioche-like characters. The palate is layered and deeply complex already, with those rich stone fruit characters emerging. A nice lick of citrus lemon curd spruces the finish. It's an impressive wine.
