Ampersand Estates Homestead syrah 2024

This wine comes from the famous Swinney vineyard in Frankland River, and it shows that even in a hot year like this, a combination of excellent vineyard management and astute, clever, light-touch winemaking can produce wines that are most impressive. Colour is quite brilliant with a deep red-crimson hue. The nose has a lift of spices and a slightly ironstone character working through the dark cherry and rich plummy fruit. Chalky tannins and carefully applied oak work seamlessly within the plush fruit. This is a classy and impressive syrah that says so much about what the vineyard and Frankland River are all about.
