Alkoomi Blackbutt cabernet sauvignon 2024

Like the shiraz off this vineyard, these vines are now more than 50 years old, and they play a fundamental role in the style and quality of Alkoomi cabernet. This captures the region quite perfectly. There's a light, lovely varietal purity, with a combination of blackcurrant and blackberry on the nose, some ironstone, ferruginous subtleties, and a subtle leafy lift. The palate is medium to full bodied, with a firm core but lovely, supple fruit. It's an impressively stylish and elegant cabernet, as you might expect from this slightly cooler region, but it has all the structure to handle extended cellaring. Another impressive wine under this label.
