Swings & Roundabouts Brash Road Single Vineyard chardonnay 2024
Chardonnay
This is from the vineyard Swings acquired a few years ago and they have really maximised the potential of what was an excellent site. This is a finer, tighter and more linear style than the Backyard Stories. On the nose, white peach, cut pear and lime characters are quite dominant, with slightly spicy vanilla bean and brioche complexity. The palate...

Robert Oatley Finisterre Margaret River Chardonnay 2021
Chardonnay
A wine that captures the elegance and power of this very good chardonnay vintage in Margaret River. It's a classy wine from the start with notes of wash rind, lemon and nectarine. The palate is still tightly held but the power is evident. Grapefruit, and a stone fruit mix with a minerally chalky and slightly savoury finish.

Pitchfork Margaret River chardonnay 2026
Chardonnay
You get decent bang for your buck with this entry-level chardonnay. Delicate, racy, and zesty, with good fruit intensity, it displays a melony, light stone-fruit combination supported by crisp, minerally acidity and just a splash of lemon juice to lift. Clean, vibrant, and alive.

Silkwood Single Vineyard The Walcott Chardonnay 2020
Chardonnay
A beautifully appealing young chardonnay from this excellent year. Stone fruit with a nectarine and white peach dominance. A little roasted almond edges in with a scoop of lemon curd. The palate has excellent fruit intensity with the crisp acidity and slightly savoury edge tightening the screws to control a long finish.
Evans and Tate Wild Cape cabernet sauvignon 2025
Wow, this is cracking good value for money. Classy red wine from this excellent vintage. The colour is extraordinary. Deep, reddy purple, subtle crimson hues. The nose is a power-packed engine room of blackcurrant and bay leaf, a little black olive, and some syrupy plum notes. Such a delightfully presented palate, capturing all the fruit intensity but delivering it with...

Vasse Felix Filius Chardonnay 2022
Chardonnay
The vintage has resulted in slightly more power and flavour richness compared to the cooler 2021. Opens with a butterscotch and ripe fig and white peach character on the nose. The palate is textured with a crème brulee and lemon curd richness balanced by a fine savoury thread through to the finish. It's so well balanced with its palate length...

Dream Bird Birdie Rocket Science Chardonnay 2023
Chardonnay
From a vineyard in Geographe that has proved very good over the years. Whole bunch pressed into a mix of seasoned puncheons and one new French barrique. Follows the Carr approach to build texture and in this case it was left on lees for nine months. Creamy lemon curd and nutty struck match with a trace of that delightful nectarine...

Dream Bird Wines Goodie Goodie Vermentino 2023
Red Varietal
Okay, so you have your usual vermentino which is crisp, fine and racy with a faint textural feel. Then you get this, which is distinctly more textural. Some time on skins initially and then natural yeasts leading to time on lees to infuse more texture. Has an appealing spicy floral and lemon zest character on the nose. The palate is...

Sandalford 1840 Swan Valley Verdelho 2023
Verdelho
A classic example of Swan Valley verdelho. In this case it's fermented in stainless steel but then gets time on lees, which introduces a rich textural feel on the palate. Typical creamy tropical fruit characters with a drizzle of citrus tang to lift the finish.

Oakover Yukich Family Reserve Verdelho 2023
Verdelho
Want to see how good verdelho can be in the Swan Valley, then tuck into this beauty. Named in honour of the Yukich's grandfather, who was an early grower in the Swan. It is a fitting tribute as it captures all the flavour and punch that has become synonymous with this variety. Keen crisp acid lifts the finish.

Duckett'S Mill Riesling 2022
Riesling
Another very good riesling from this Denmark vineyard. A merging of cut lime and lemon zest with traces of spicy minerals a feature. Itβs bone dry and long with a precise mouth feel through to the finish.

Duckett'S Mill Riesling 2023
Riesling
The spicy minerality of this taut yet still slightly textural riesling is fascinating. White florals on the nose with a little lemony citrus. The palate is controlled and persistent with tremendous length. It was a terrific season, and this one has turned out beautifully. One of the best from this excellent vintage.

L S Merchants Frankland River riesling 2025
Riesling
This comes off the Swinney vineyard. There's a distinctive crisp lemony character here with its slick minerally iron filings character. It was left on light lees in a mix of tank and foudres adding a subtle textural feel. Has a tight edgy lemon character on the finish which gives it focus and definition. It was aged on fine lees for...

Jarrah Ridge Blossom cabernet sauvignon 2016
Cabernet Sauvignon
Pretty happy when you can still find a 10-year-old Margaret River cabernet at an affordable price. This oneβs terrific. Itβs a rounded, full-bodied and generous style of cabernet, exhibiting the firmish tannins which earmark the vintage, but supported with great depth of fruit, displaying the blackcurrant, dark chocolate and slightly minerally oyster shell characters that you might expect. Itβs now...

Butler Crest Margaret River chardonnay 2025
Chardonnay
A light-bodied, crisp, almost Chablis-style chardonnay where the lively varietal aromatics of pear and cut lime, with a little grapefruit, emerge. On the palate, there are more riches of stone fruit and the creaminess that adds textural feel. A little flick of oak introduces subtle complexity, but it retains its keen edginess through to a long finish. Refreshing and pure.

Sittella Avant Garde tempranillo 2024
Tempranillo
This exciting wine comes from a single vineyard in the Swan Valley, where there are five clones of this variety. It gets some interesting winemaking after handpicking and bunch sorting. It was tossed into open-top fermenters, then matured in seasoned oak. All of this retains the strongly fruit-driven characters of this variety. It was a warm year, and yet, it...
One of the best examples of this wine I have seen. There is a beautifully crunchy mineral purity that strikes immediately. The nose is a mix of light citrus and sea spray. It's engaging. Then the fine and delicate palate really hits the mark. A linear yet intense flavour combo extends precisely to a long finish.
This is such a versatile grape that Churchview has been working with for some time now. You can make it lean and mean if you like, but in this case, they've built some structure, texture and richness into the wine to great effect. Whole-bunch pressing into a mix of stainless steel and older puncheons has given it some structural integrity....

Duckett'S Mill Chardonnay 2021
Chardonnay
This wine is just starting to show the faintest hint of secondary characters, although it still has a long way to go. Ripe stone fruit with a nectarine peachy combination at play. Some barrel fermentation influence has contributed to its slightly creamy rich and already complex palate. Finishes with a subtle savoriness.

Faber verdelho 2023
Verdelho
What a year for this Swan Valley staple. Griffiths uses just free run juice, which is reflected in this delightfully crisp and crunchy example of the variety. Perfumed stone fruit ad cumquat with an orange zest lift. The palate packs more of the nectarine and citrus characters into the frame before releasing to a sustained finish. Just so much happening...

Forest Hill Mount Barker riesling 2023
Riesling
Talk about a great value high-class riesling, then this guy is right on the money. It comes from two vineyards, the 1975 planted Block 2 and the younger Highbury Fields. Itβs distinctly talcy with a lemon zippy aroma that pokes into the palate. That talcy acid persists creating a wine of penetrating flavour with a nice palate pleasing texture.

Gilberts riesling 2025
Riesling
Over the years, some quite exceptional rieslings have come off this little vineyard just north of Mount Barker. Typically, the aromas are a combination of lime and lemon with a slightly spicy, mineral nuance. The palate is deeply intense but delivers with a degree of 2025 delicacy, and the dry finish is long. There's a beautiful mouthfeel about this riesling,...

Needless to say, a very young and vibrant blend of these two varieties. viognier has added an attractive spicy, gingery lift to the rich but medium-weight plummy flavours and aromas. A terrific expression of a soft, approachable, medium-bodied grenache, displaying all the lovely perfumes and florals at the outset. It all balances neatly into a most appealing wine for drinking over the next few years.
