There is tension here but there is also palate fruit weight which has been perfectly harnessed with the crisp natural acidity. This was a good year for riesling in the Great Southern and the fine linear palate creates a crunchy lip-smacking finish.

Galafrey uses only free run juice here, which heightens its purity and almost pristine characters. There's a regional and varietal spiciness that works within the citrus and lemon peel nuances on the nose. The palate is fine with a degree of tension balanced with deep riesling intensity. Talk about a great value high-class riesling, then this guy is right on the money. It comes from two vineyards, the 1975 planted Block 2 and the younger Highbury Fields. It’s distinctly talcy with a lemon zippy aroma that pokes into the palate. That talcy acid persists creating a wine of penetrating flavour with a nice palate pleasing texture.

A lot of interesting things happened to create this outstanding riesling. First there was barrel fermentation and the extended lees contact. It's bone dry and has a flinty and textural feel with some bath salts character. There's a cute mix of lemon rind and spices that releases on the nose and palate. An excellent wine.

I do like this riesling. Cherubino makes it in a clay cement egg which creates a vortex to work the lees into the palate. Retains it pristine brightness but with the extra dimension of a textural palate. The mineral light citrus edge remains a fundamental part.

A pure and pristine expression of Frankland River riesling. The aromas of intense lemon zest with an edge of lime are distinctly riesling. The palate is intense with a crunchy lively minerality displaying a degree of classic riesling tension. Slightly powdery bath salts add a further dimension to an already crowded palate.

Okay, the interesting thing is that some of this was barrel fermented in French oak and after that it just did its thing with little added. So the wine has life and texture. Love the mouth feel which has a textural feel while retaining the bright spicy lightly citrus tang. Very long finish.

A blend of riesling and gewurztraminer from Frankland River. Needless to say, that with these varieties it is a highly aromatic wine…well the name says it too, doesn't it.
