This is from clone 76. It’s a generous wine of concentration and palate weight. Strikes with a nice waxy, savoury aromatic that is immediately complex. The palate has an almost dry-as-chips, savoury, chalky character. It is linear and yet powerfully intense, with a very precise, keen finish. Has a nice mineral character.

A wine of polish and sheen. Floral red fruit notes on the nose with a leafy minerally character. The palate is medium bodied but packed with fruit intensity that flows effortlessly to a long finish. The chalky tannins hold the line with the fine grained oak underpinning. Refined and classy.

This is a fine and quite delicate riesling from the Great Southern. Perfumed notes of lemon and Jasmine with a slaty granite character. The palate is finely balanced with a fine acidity sustaining through to the finish. Clean and crisp with a distinct lemon zest palate character.

Stylish and quite elegant, this is a medium- to full-bodied cabernet from an excellent season. There’s a mix of blackcurrant and blackberry on the nose, with a little minerally oyster shell and a lift of bay leaf. The palate has generous fruit intensity, supported by fine, chalky tannins and well-integrated oak. A polished and expressive Margaret River cabernet.

Medium-bodied, with plenty of persistent flavour. On the nose, there’s a neat mix of nougat and quince, with a little lemon meringue. It all swirls together into a lovely combination. This is such an appealing expression of Wilyabrup chardonnay. It comes from old Jindong vines, and the intensity and power are immediately evident. Aromas of lemon meringue, quince paste, some nice brioche and a splash of lemon draw you in. The palate is delightfully composed and subtle, yet there is plenty of palate length, with a nice savoury finish.

It retains a beautiful vibrancy and energy through the palate. An ideal wine, particularly if you’re not into oak, as this one will fit the bill perfectly. It’s great current drinking.

It’s perfumed with spicy plum, dark chocolate and a little mulberry character, while the palate is so soft, supple and juicy. This is quintessential current-drinking shiraz, offering so much. From what was a pretty good year for whites, comes this excellent chardonnay. Lightly lifted notes of white peach and nectarine with a neat twist of lemon. The palate is lightly framed but has good intensity with notes of roasted almond, lemon rind and quince. It’s balanced and poised with a precise palate profile. Shorter term wine.

This is a slight departure from the more highly aromatic fruit driven 2021. It shows more savoury complexity along with secondary winemaking influences. There’s a faint hint of struck match complexity merging with the ripe stone fruit characters. Excellent balance and power through to a long finish.

A clean, crisp and lightly fruity shiraz-based rose. Lifted strawberry and subtle raspberry nuances on the nose. The palate is fresh and fruity with a fine acidity to define its finish.

An elegant medium bodied shiraz showing how well this variety can do in the Blackwood Valley in a slightly warmer year. It's soft and supple with a little peppery spice delving into the plush plummy fruit characters. Fine chalky tannins work neatly while the oak is underplayed and well-weighted. Bright with lots of sweet fruit appeal.

Pemberton

Chardonnay

A delightful example of how good chardonnay was in Pemberton during this warm season. It is light-bodied, with citrus, melon and grapefruit on the nose, lifted by a hint of jasmine. The palate reveals melon fruit dominance with good flavour intensity and length. Oak is understated and subtle, but important in the final composition. A really nice current drinking wine.

This wine was sourced from Margaret River in what was a very good year for these white aromatics. It is a crisp, fresh and zippy chenin displaying citrus tang, some creamy textural elements and a racy, lively finish. If you can’t enjoy this on a warm summer’s afternoon, you are hard to please.

A regular weekly program of lees stirring has built in texture, complexity and further richness to create a really attractive style that combines the natural zesty fruit freshness with an extra level of intrigue. You’re getting some serious cabernet character in this polished wine from what was a very good vintage. Intense blackcurrant and dark plum on the nose with some subtle minerally edges. The palate is so beautifully integrated with the oak deftly supporting the concentrated and powerful fruit. The is a cabernet that could easily sell for a higher price.

A delightfully presented cabernet from this excellent vintage. Has a pretty perfumed nose of blackcurrant and leafy African violet with a trace of black olive. Seamlessly integrated oak and fine tannins gentle caress the palate. It’s poised and medium bodied with flavours of dark chocolate and black fruits rounded out with some really attractive integrated oak.

Here is a really impressive chardonnay offering plenty of those generous flavours but delivered with a deft touch of finesse. Aromas of white peach and grapefruit with a little brioche complexity. The palate has lots of drive with deeply flavoured fruit supported by some nice oak treatment. The lively minerally acidity sustains a long finish with a slight savoury flourish.

One of an increasing number of excellent vermentino being made in Western Australia. This has the characteristic cut pear and scented orange notes of the variety, with some lovely floral touches. The palate is crunchy, vibrant and slightly saline, making it a particularly salivating and enticing summer drink. Lovely palate feel.
