This deeply concentrated and plush shiraz carries more weight and sweet fruit intensity than the Reserve version. Plum and blackberry fruit aromas with notes of licorice and liqueur chocolate. The palate is super ripe and intense but at the same time the supple gentle generosity of the Swan Valley takes control. A wine that will definitely benefit from cellaring.

From the sleeper vintage comes this very good example of the season. Starting to knit together rather well. Lift of leafy black currant and minerally graphite on the nose with dark black olive nuances. Neatly integrated oak and tannin add structure to the fruit. Effortlessly long.

The Swan valley was one of the better regions for this cooler vintage and ideally suited to grenache. Perfumed red fruits of raspberry and rose petal on the nose with an earthy nuance. The palate is soft and warm with a smooth interaction of oak and tannin allowing the fruit to express its virtues perfectly. Lovely smooth mouth feel.

Grenache

A refined expression of grenache with slightly punchier fruit than some modern styles, yet it retains beautiful aromas of red fruits and rose petal, offset by subtle damp earth and vanilla pod notes. Fruit, tannin and supporting oak are seamlessly interwoven. Quite linear, but still with good flesh and medium weight, finishing long and clean.

A terrific expression of a soft, approachable, medium-bodied grenache, displaying all the lovely perfumes and florals at the outset. Some nice lightly plummy cherry characters on the palate, supported by well-integrated oak and fine, quite subdued tannins. It all balances neatly into a most appealing wine for drinking over the next few years.

Malbec

The extra time in bottle has certainly helped this Frankland River sourced malbec start to show what it's made of. The aromas are a combination of blue and red fruits with some nice leafy lifts. The palate is soft and beautifully supple showing excellent fine tannin and subtle oak integration. Captures the variety really well.

Merlot

Blackwood Valley has proved to be one of the better regions for merlot. This is merlot with structure and poise reflecting both season and region. It's still tightly held with a firm cover of tannin and oak capturing the fruit, which shows a slightly gravelly grainy character. Needs a little more time open up.

The soft and generous palate feel of the Swan valley has its DNA all over this appealing medium bodied blend. Leafy black fruit with a spicy plum character. The palate sings the Swan Valley with its smooth seamless structure and soft plush fruit. The fine chalky tannins and light cedary oak complete an impressive young wine.

Cabernet Sauvignon

I have to say this is one of the best Jarrah Ridge wines yet. It’s from the excellent ’23 vintage so that helps, and is reflected in the effortlessly stylish structure and palate presentation. Perfumed red berries with blackcurrant and dark chocolate swirling through the subtle tobacco leaf charaters. Bright and alive palate extends to a focussed long finish.

Cabernet Blend

A generous and robust full-bodied wine that is very much a product of the vintage. Dense black fruits with a sweet plummy richness. The palate is a mass of dark chocolate, dark plum with fruit cake and blackberry. Fine tannins and a sliver of oak contribute to a smooth and balanced palate.

A lighter and elegant medium bodied grenache made in the contemporary style that brings brightness and vibrancy. Perfumed notes of rose petal and raspberry with other red fruits emerging. Smoothly integrated medium bodied palate with so much bright red fruits and a deep layer of dark plum fruit beneath.

This a notch up, but not by much, on the very good ’22 vintage. Aromas display those same rose petal and raspberry nuances with a little fresh tuned earthiness. But the palate has a silky-smooth viscosity supported by supple fine tannins and a light touch of oak.

A wine which shows the versatility of the Swan Valley. It's a soft and supple merlot displaying nice fruit sweetness balanced with a fine tannin thread. Plenty of dark berry flavours fill the palate with that slightly chalky character providing balance and poise.

Rather appealing scented aromas of black fruit cake and spicy plum with a layer of sweet vanillin oak. Oodles of dark fruits fill the palate with a plum and spice combination lifted with some fresh blackberries. Smooth medium bodied an immensely appealing.

A slightly less robust and prettier version than the excellent ’22. Bright spicy plum and blackberry with vanillin oak nuances. The palate is medium bodied and totally seamless with a fine merging of fine tannins, subtle oak and quite beautiful fruit. Has a sweet fruit character balanced by a savoury dry finish.

A beautiful example of Swan Valley shiraz from this warmer season that produced excellent fruit of balance and poise. Spicy plum and clove with a little cedar on the nose, and then a supple, soft, generous palate of typically medium body from the Swan, but displaying great depth of fruit and a pure, sustained finish. Excellent wine.
