Cape Mentelle is one of the pioneering estates in the Margaret River region, having been established by the Hohnen family in 1970 and is now under the portfolio of Paragon Wine Estates, part of the Endeavour Group. From the start Cape Mentelle played a leading role in defining the regional style of Margaret River cabernet sauvignon that now stands alongside the world’s best. Consecutive Jimmy Watson Trophies in the early ‘80s did much to build the reputation for this estate and the region. The wines made here reflect their origins and regionality and are consistently among the best from the region. The cabernet reaches exceptional heights and shiraz can be outstanding.
