Snake + Herring Primary Chardonnay 2023

This has developed into something of a winner for Snake + Herring and is already well established as one of the better Chardonnays of Margaret River. It's sourced from Karridale, south of Margaret River, and immediately its power and intensity are evident, not surprising given it comes from a single block of the famed and powerful Gingin clone near Witchcliffe. Shows immediately with that compelling combination of grapefruit, quince paste, and ripe stone fruit, cut with a fine acidity and just a faint hint of turmeric. The palate is textured and deeply flavoured, but it gathers, defines, and focuses as it extends through to a very long finish. This is still in its very early stages, and so those tight lines will eventually give way to the richer intensity of the variety.
