Cape Mentelle Wallcliffe sauvignon blanc 2023

I've always loved this wine as it pushes the boundaries of sauvignon blanc. It's been refined, restrained and controlled over the years to deliver a wine with greater finesse and elegance since the early iterations. It was fermented and matured for 11 months in oak, stainless steel and ceramic amphora and a concrete egg. Now that's complex, and it shows through in the wine. It means you get all that oak influence, albeit not to excess. And it's created a wine of great complexity and richness while still retaining the vibrant tropical fruits that are part of and the quintessential component of sauvignon blanc in Margaret River. This was such a good season and this wine has been so expertly handled. Just terrific drinking.
