Penfolds Magill Estate shiraz 2022

The quality of the fruit for this marvelous wine that comes from the Magill Estate right in the suburbs of Adelaide was stunning. Opens with dark fruits of blackberry and plum with deeper notes of licorice and sage-bush. The seamlessly presented palate displays a mass of dark chocolate and dried herbs. Fine chalky tannins and a decent lick of French and American oak in support. The American oak adds an important piece to the mix. It is part of a transition to more French from the 50/50 split it has been in early years. The fruit now suits the French oak more. One of the best from the burbs.
