Robert Oatley The Pennant cabernet sauvignon 2019

Great to see a six-year-old wine just starting to hit the market. This cabernet from Margaret River comes from a season that produced some very smart wines. The nose of blackcurrant, bay leaf, oyster shell and a faint hint of graphite is immediately evident. The palate delivers Margaret River DNA, deeply embedded in a powerful and generous cabernet, tightly structured and poised. A faint spicy, leathery character shows the benefit of extra time in bottle, but the vintage fruit still shines. Excellent wine.
