Forester Estate cabernet sauvignon 2024

This is an excellent wine that is predominantly cabernet with tiny amounts of the aromatic cab franc, and the colour and tannins from the petit verdot. It's a deep, dark red colour. The nose is quite beautiful, with dominant blackcurrant, bay leaf, and olive tapenade, with a nice lift of oyster shell minerality. The palate is quite sublime, with deep, dark, concentrated fruits supported by fine chalky tannins and some neatly applied oak, of which just 28% was new. It's created a wine that is velvety smooth, quite supple, but still with cabernet structure and poise. Outstanding value for a wine of this quality.
