Evans & Tate Single Vineyard chardonnay 2023

This excellent chardonnay from an excellent year comes from the Ellen’s Estate Vineyard down at Wallcliffe. It immediately strikes as a fine and delicate, and quite linear wine, which you might expect from this vineyard. And yet, the deeper you go, the more you realise there is an underlying power and intensity here that drives through to the finish. It had 10 months in French oak barriques, followed by another six months on full yeast lees in tank. This has built tremendous complexity with a layered palate feel. It's fine, it's long, with a minerally, crisp acid finish. Excellent wine.
