Voyager Estate cabernet sauvignon 2015

This is a significant departure, heralding a new era for Margaret River and Voyager Estate cabernet. The decision has been made to release the estate cabernets only when they have 10 years of age. This is a re-release of a wine sent out to the public some years ago, but it shows the intent to make some serious, mature cabernet for release. It was quite a delicately poised vintage, without the power of 2018 or 2016, yet it has produced some remarkably beautiful wines. There is a faint hint of leafy, leathery, slightly library-book note, but it is still driven by primary fruits. It sits together and integrates neatly, with fine chalky tannins and that slight minerality that produces a vineyard DNA. The secret here, if you are going to drink it now, and it is ready to go, is to give it a decent splash in the decanter.
