From the outset, Thompson Estate has been committed to producing high-quality wines, earning recognition through numerous wine show medals and accolades from the wine press. Its original winemaking philosophy reflected founder Peter Thompson’s medical background, with the best specialist selected to craft each wine. This approach produced a collection of exceptional wines, but managing production across five different wineries eventually became too complex. In response, Thompson Estate designed and built a state-of-the-art winery on the property, with the first vintage produced there in 2009, bringing winemaking expertise together in one place.
